The Seattle-based church Mars Hill Church has decided to disband, said officials in a post on their website Friday.
SEATTLE — The board of the congregation decided that its existing churches would become “autonomous self-governed entities." Each location would become a new church.
This comes two weeks after controversial pastor Mark Driscoll stepped down. Driscoll was under fire amid questions about his leadership style and falling membership in his Mars Hill Church.
Driscoll had been on a leave of absence for two months while a group of church elders investigated claims that he was a bully.
The internal investigation concluded Driscoll was guilty of arrogance and a quick temper, but not anything illegal.
