SEATTLE — A convicted drug offender was busted for dealing drugs while out on work release, but was sentenced again to more work release.
“It’s outrageous,” said King County corrections officer Randy Weaver, who first pointed out what happened.
Gregory Hughes was busted last year for possession of illegal substances in a sting operation by Seattle police.
“He was sent to work release,” Weaver said. “He was caught dealing drugs while in work release so the jail sent him back to jail, and the judge turned right back around and put him back in work release.”
According to court documents Hughes admits he was dealing marijuana while out on work release but was still reinstated into work release by King County Judge Roger Rogoff.
Rogoff said over the phone that he cannot comment on the case, even though he is an elected official, because the case might appear before him again the future.
