Man crossing street hit by driver in Kent

The crash happened late Thursday night near the Kent Fred Meyer.

KENT, Wash. — A pedestrian was hospitalized after he was hit by a truck late Thursday night in a Kent intersection.

Police said a man was crossing James Street west of the 102nd Avenue Southeast intersection when he stepped into the path of a driver heading west.

The man was thrown to the ground and the driver immediately stopped.

The 40-year-old Kent man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.

Kent officers said the driver was cooperative and there appeared to be no evidence to suggest that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.

The investigation into the incident is continuing in the coming week.
