Wrong-way driver causes crash on SR 167

SUMNER, Wash. — One person was hurt in a head-on collision that troopers say was caused by a wrong-way driver.

The two-car crash on southbound State Route 167 at 24th Street East in Sumner was reported on Twitter by Washington State Patrol trooper Robert Reyer at 2:42 a.m. Monday.

The driver of the victim’s vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Reyer said the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was arrested for investigation of DUI.

Both southbound lanes were blocked while troopers investigated. The lanes have since reopened.
