Woman passenger killed when alleged DUI driver strikes disabled semi truck on SR-18

A woman is dead after an alleged DUI driver struck a disabled semi truck on State Route 18 near the summit of Tiger Mountain, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Just after 8 p.m. on June 27, a 31-year-old man from Enumclaw collided a blue 2010 Ford Escape into a disabled semi truck.

The passenger of the Escape, a 27-year-old woman from Maple Valley, was killed.

The driver of the Escape was also injured and transported to Overlake Medical Center.

According to the Washington State Patrol, he faces charges of DUI and vehicular homicide.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured. They were outside working on the truck with triangles and hazard lights on.

The scene was cleared just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
