KING COUNTY, Wash. — The body of a 36-year-old man who was swimming and got caught in rapid waters Sunday in the Snoqualmie River was found Wednesday, King County deputies said.
The man was swimming near Southeast Fish Hatchery Road and 372 Avenue Southeast.
Deputies said he went out too far and vanished down the river. Several people attempted to save him but could not reach him.
The Marine Rescue Dive Unit responded and searched for the man until dark but could not find him, authorities said. The search continued Monday, but it wasn’t until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday that his body was found in the water.
First responders said the incident is a “sad reminder of how dangerous bodies of water can be, even when the outside temperature is warm.”
They are also reminding people that water levels remain high and currents are strong at this time of year and people should use caution and wear a life jacket whenever they’re near a body of water.
