SEATTLE — Seattle authorities say a 66-year-old man is in custody after he shot at police during a standoff and police returned fire in the 11200 block of Fremont Avenue North, striking him in the lower half of his body.
The original call began at 9:30 pm Friday. Patrol officers were called to the block after a man fired a long gun and threatened his neighbor. When officers arrived the suspect had retreated into his residence and refused to come out.

Police say the man at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday fired a shotgun and struck a SWAT armored vehicle, and a SWAT officer fired several rounds in return.
In accordance with SPD policy designed in collaboration with the Department of Justice, detectives from the Force Investigation Team (FIT) and SPD Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to the scene, along with representatives from the Office of Professional Accountability, to collect evidence and review the incident.
Police say the man went back into the residence but surrendered an hour later.
Officials say the man was treated at the scene and transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The suspect's name hasn't been released, and no police officers were injured.
