Space Needle will still host NYE fireworks show, despite construction

Officials with the Space Needle told KIRO 7 they will still host the fireworks show on New Year’s Eve this year.

They will host the show despite construction that is underway. The Space Needle is undergoing a major renovation that will take several years: a $100 million makeover.

Artistic renderings show a spectacular and dizzying view -- with nothing but glass floors and glass walls between the visitor and cityscape.

The fireworks show on New Year's Eve this year will be the same duration as previous years; they just won’t put fireworks on the halo where the construction is.

Anywhere you can see the Space Needle on New Year’s Eve, you can watch the fireworks show.

Some favorite spots to watch the display include Alki Beach, Queen Anne's Kerry Park and Seattle Center.
