STEVENS PASS, Wash. — Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says that all lanes of U.S. Highway 2 are closed over Stevens Pass from Index to Coles Corner, west of Leavenworth.

The closure is due to heavy rain that continues in western Washington this week, causing mudslides and flooding on the highway.

Roughly 50 miles from milepost 35 to milepost 85 are closed.

Drivers are asked to find alternative routes while the highway is closed.

WSDOT said that portion of the highway will be closed overnight.

Crews will continue to work with local jurisdictions on the response effort and reassess conditions Thursday morning, Dec. 11.
