SILVERDALE, Wash. — A Silverdale home was destroyed in a fire Monday night when no one was inside the house.
Crews from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue were called to the home in the 11000 block of Random Place Northwest at 9:41 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find flames coming through the roof and heavy smoke. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm about 10 minutes after the first crews arrived.
Fire officials said neighbors who made the first calls to 911 were concerned the family who lived there may have been inside. Firefighters searched the home and found it was empty.
Firefighters later learned that the family was out of town, except for one member who was staying elsewhere. All family members were notified about the fire.
A news release from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue said there were several comments on social media during the fire saying that people heard a “boom” in the area.
Crews confirmed there were no explosions during the fire and the sound was most likely the home’s windows blowing out from the heat.
