Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hit 90 degrees Tuesday afternoon, which made it the 12th day this year that our area hit 90 degrees, tying the record from 2015.

It is possible that the Seattle area could get to 90 degrees on Wednesday but KIRO 7 chief meteorologist Morgan Palmer said the area would most likely wind up in the upper 80s.

Wednesday will be almost as warm but with a weak disturbance aloft that will move through, we could have a few high clouds to cut down the highs a degree or two.

This disturbance could also set off a few mountain thunderstorms later in the day.

The chance of thunderstorms affecting lowland locations looks pretty slim because of a lack of available moisture, but we’ll be on watch.

Any thunderstorms in the mountains could come with plenty of lightning.

This is the forecast for some areas:

• Hazy and hot with heat advisories issued for south of Snohomish County.

• Upper 80s for Seattle through Wednesday, some 90s south and near Cascades.

• Slight chance for mountain thunderstorms Wednesday.

We could also see some hazy skies Wednesday and Thursday from wildfires well to our south in Oregon and California, but this smoke will likely stay aloft and not harm surface air quality.

On Thursday, the heat will back off a few degrees but it will remain in the 80s for south of Seattle.

By Friday and the Labor Day weekend, expect temperatures back to the 70s to near 80 with a few more clouds but also plenty of sun. These temperatures will still be above average for this time of year. Seattle’s normal high for next Monday, Labor Day, is 75 degrees.
