KING COUNTY, Wash. — A search is underway for a man who struck and injured an officer and then led Kirkland police on a chase Sunday afternoon.

Police said they attempted to talk with a man suspected in a porch theft that occurred the day after Christmas.

Officers found the man at a Motel 6 located at 12010 120th PL NE, where he and a woman were getting into a vehicle.

When officers commanded the man to get out of the vehicle, he ignored them and drove off, striking an officer, officials said.

Police said the officer jumped out of the way and was treated for a possible leg injury.

The man led officers on a chase onto I-405, then onto Highway 522 before exiting to Bothell and then onto Woodinville, authorities said.

A PIT maneuver was used on the suspect’s vehicle, which continued a short distance before it stopped.

Police said the man then fled on foot, leaving his passenger in the vehicle. She was not hurt.

The man got away and has not been found, according to law enforcement. He has felony warrants.

Police said the suspect will face charges that include third-degree theft, third degree-assault and eluding.
