Renton officer helps rescue crow trapped inside home’s walls

RENTON, Wash. — A Renton police officer helped rescue a crow that got stuck inside the walls of a home.

Dispatchers received a call about the problem from a homeowner in the 13000 block of Southeast 164th Street last week.

Renton police said animal control staff members were not on duty, so officer and “pet detective” Matt Nugent offered to help, according to a post on the Renton Police Department’s Facebook page.

“Expert sleuthing led the rescue team to believe the wayward raven was trapped within the walls of the home’s fireplace,” the post said.

After part of the fireplace was dismantled, the crow was freed, and with a little encouragement, flew right out of an open door.

Renton police said they categorize this kind of call as “all other duties as assigned.”
