Puyallup police warn of fraud calls asking for donations to fallen officer fund

PUYALLUP, Wash. — The Puyallup Police Department is warning the public of fraud calls asking for donations to a fallen officer fund.

"We are not soliciting donations for the fallen officer fund & we would never call you asking for a financial donation," the department wrote over Twitter.

Police say someone is calling people in the Puyallup area claiming to be with the Puyallup Police Department and soliciting donations to the fund.

“Please do not give your personal information to anyone over the phone or any financial information,” the department wrote in a subsequent tweet. “Unfortunately someone is trying to make $$ on a horrific tragedy in law enforcement. This sometimes happens after tragic events – disgusting!”
