Police: Two arrested, possibly connected to asphalt scam

(Bellevue Police Department)

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Two men trying to sell asphalt were pulled over Thursday for speeding and were arrested for obstructing a police investigation and for operating a business without a license, Bellevue police said.

Back on Aug. 9, police said some men flipped a U-turn, dumped a couple of hundred gallons of asphalt on Northup way and Bellevue Way and fled the scene.

Police are investigating if the men who were pulled over are the same individuals who dumped the asphalt Aug.9.

Police said there is a group of individuals that is running an asphalt scam and trying to gouge residents with shoddy work.

"Do not buy asphalt from someone knocking on your door. It's a scam," Bellevue police said.

Police are warning residents to research reputable companies to "save money and a headache down the road."
