EDMONDS, Wash. — Edmonds police, along with the Washington State Patrol troopers, are investigating after an explosion Saturday afternoon.
Highway 99 is shut down between 238th Street Southwest and 234th Street Southwest. And 236th Street Southwest is also closed from Highway 99 to 76th Avenue West.
Authorities said remnants from a crude device were discovered.
Law enforcement searched the area for any other potentially dangerous device, officials said.
No one was injured and no damage was found, police said.
After further investigation, police said they identified a man believed to be connected to the explosion and interviewed him. The device turned out to be a plastic pop bottle.
Police said the man has not been arrested but charges could still be sought depending on the investigation.
