• Pet squirrel found in Auburn student's locker

AUBURN, Wash. - One middle-schooler may have been suffering from some separation anxiety at the start of the school year.

A tweet from the district said a pet squirrel was found in a student’s locker at Mount Baker Middle School.

After the discovery, the Auburn School District sent out a reminder Thursday via social media for students not to bring pets to school.

Middle school kids are so funny!  This pet squirrel was found in a Mt. Baker locker today! Reminder-please leave pets at home!

There’s no word on how the squirrel was discovered, but it appeared to be enjoying some peanuts after it was freed from the locker.
