Paramedic testifies in Manny Ellis murder trial

A paramedic testifying in the Manny Ellis murder trial.

The Manuel Ellis trial continued Tuesday afternoon.

We heard from a couple more witnesses on Tuesday, including a paramedic.

Tacoma officers Christopher Burbank, Matthew Collins, and Timothy Rankine are all charged in Ellis’s death as a result of a violent arrest in 2020.

Paramedic Nicholas Wilson testified on Tuesday.

He said when he arrived at the scene, he could tell Ellis wasn’t breathing.

On Monday, state prosecutors warned the trial is running behind schedule. They’re saying it could now be the third week of November before they wrap their case.

We’ve been following along each day of the trial.

  • On October 18 - A former pizza delivery driver took the stand.
  • On October 17 - A prosecution expert in forensic audio and a pathologist testified.
  • On October 12 - Sara McDowell, who took one of the cellphone videos showing the restraint testified.
  • On October 3 - Opening statements were heard.
