EVERETT, Wash. — An overturned semitruck is blocking State Route 527 between El Capitan Way and Southeast Everett Mall Way in Everett.
The crash happened at 1:28 p.m. Friday after the truck driver pulled to the side of the road and his load fell over, officials said.
Ten gallons of sodium hydroxide spilled and it’s corrosive, Washington State Patrol troopers said. The semi was carrying a total of 304 gallons of the substance, which is non-life-threatening.
Traffic in the area has been rerouted.
Everett police said it could be hours before the road is reopened.
Police are investigating what happened.
