MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. — An off-duty King County deputy and an off-duty state trooper helped save a man’s life in Maple Valley.
Officials said that on June 17, off-duty Deputy Christopher Kyle was training in a jiu-jitsu class in Maple Valley when another student in the class had a heart attack and stopped breathing.
Kyle and another student, off-duty Trooper Karim Boukabou, immediately started CPR on the man.
Both Kyle and Boukabou continued until medics arrived.
The man was transported from the scene to Valley Medical, where doctors said he suffered ventricular fibrillation.
"Due to Deputy Kyle's quick action, (the man) survived and was released three days later," a spokesperson for the King County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook.
