WASHINGTON D.C. — The National Transit Safety Board on Tuesday released a preliminary report on the fatal bus crash in SeaTac in July.

Officials said around 1 p.m. on July 25, a 2001 BMW 325i was traveling south on International Boulevard when it crossed the left turn lane and center median, entered the northbound left travel lane and collided with a 14-passenger shuttle bus that was coming from a nearby hotel.

A 45-year-old man in the shuttle bus was partially ejected in the crash and later died. The man was identified as Bryan R. Panzanaro, who was visiting from Peekskill, New York.

The driver of the bus and seven other passengers sustained injuries that ranged from minor to serious, officials said.

The driver of the BMW was also injured, according to officials.

"The shuttle bus was equipped with lap belts in all 14 passenger seat positions, but none of the (8) passengers were wearing them," the NTSB said.

According to the Washington State Patrol, riders on a shuttle bus are not required to wear seat belts.

Both the driver of the shuttle bus and the driver of the BMW were wearing seat belts, officials said.
