RENTON, Wash. — A collision involving a semitruck that caught fire blocked multiple lanes Saturday evening on I-405 near State Route 167 in Renton.
A Washington State Patrol trooper said the semi struck an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder and caught fire.
Flames were seen shooting in the air from the truck. However, firefighters were able to get the flames under control as smoke billowed from the semi.
Firefighters said they had a hard time putting out the flames at first due to a lack of water supply.
Renton firefighters said only one person was treated for minor injuries.
The three right lanes were blocked for hours as crews work to put out the hot spots and clear the crash.
People driving by the crash recorded video of the massive flames and said they could feel the heat from the fire, from the other side of the interstate.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
