MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. — King County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a person who burglarized an animal hospital and may be connected to an attempted break-in at another veterinary hospital; both are in Maple Valley.
KIRO 7 received surveillance video showing a man breaking in the Wilderness Animal Hospital. Deputies confirmed the burglary happened about 3:50 a.m. Saturday.
The burglar reportedly threw a rock at a glass door and climbed through. He went past the treatment area and then into the doctor’s office.
The thief pried open the safe and took most of the controlled drugs in the office, deputies confirmed. He also took a basket of noncontrolled medication that is specifically for animals, from a fridge, the hospital doctor told deputies.

The office told deputies that he seemed to know exactly where to go and it might be someone with knowledge of the hospital’s layout.
About 3:37 a.m., officials said deputies responded to an attempted break-in at the Pine Tree Veterinary Hospital in the 27500 block of Maple Valley Black Diamond Road Southeast. While deputies were investigating, the break-in at Wilderness was happening.
Deputies said there was damage done to the front door of Pine Tree but the person didn’t get in.
There was $3,000 in medication stolen from Wilderness Animal Hospital, deputies said.
