SEATTLE — A man accused of using a baseball bat to beat a woman in an unprovoked attack is set to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Wantez Tulloss hit the woman in the back of the head late last month on Cedar Street near Second Avenue in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.
Surveillance video captured the attack, which happened in the early evening.
The woman was rushed to the hospital with a skull fracture.
Tulloss is charged with first-degree assault.
On Thursday, a judge asked for a doctor to evaluate Tulloss to determine if he’s competent to stand trial.
Tulloss has had two previous felony convictions. The most recent was in 2013, but prosecutors said he’s has also had 10 warrants for failing to appear in court.
