A serial burglar is behind bars again, suspected of breaking into homes in several counties.
Paul Kalchik is accused of taking advantage of his father's job as a real estate agent to target homes which are all listed "for sale."
The court documents show Kalchik has a history going back to 2010.
He's served time behind bars twice already. He was just released again last October on a drug offender sentencing alternative.
A search warrant reveals Kalchik is a suspect in a slew of burglaries, including a home in Newcastle. The homeowner didn't want to talk. He's in the process of moving out. But he did confirm his home was burglarized in August while the home was up "for sale." The burglars, he said, broke in through a window.
Documents show he was convicted twice for crimes going back to 2010.
Each time he was caught, investigators say he used his father's log-in information to find "for sale" homes listed in the Northwest Multiple Listing Service -- a database used by realtors.
The documents also reveal a confession from Pavlo Kurylas, an alleged accomplice of Kalchik who confirmed Kalchik's MO and that he "gets a list of residences for them to burglarize."
Among the homes Kurylas admits to breaking into are the home in Newcastle, two in Redmond, one in Shoreline and one in Edgewood.
Kalchik is also suspected of burglarizing a home in Woodinville. The new homeowners were shocked to hear of the alleged crime spree.
KIRO 7 visited six homes, many of which were already empty. That's only half the number of houses authorities are trying to get more information about through a search warrant.
The Northwest MLS says it is aware of the burglaries. And that the keybox was never compromised. It is cooperating with authorities.
Kalchik is currently in the Pierce County Jail.
KIRO 7 reached his sister by phone. She said the family has no comment.
