SEATTLE — Seattle police said they arrested a 21-year-old man Wednesday after a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian on Aurora Avenue.
According to police, a 70-year-old man was crossing Aurora Avenue North, near the crosswalk at North 125th Street, after 8 p.m. when a Toyota Corolla struck him and left the scene.
Medics tried to revive the pedestrian but he died at the scene.
The car was found several blocks away but no one was inside, investigators said.
After a search, officers found a 21-year-old man, they suspect was the driver in North Seattle and arrested him without incident.
Police said the driver showed signs of impairment. A search warrant for a blood sample was obtained and he was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.
The investigation remains ongoing.
