Hiker rescued from Sunrise Mine Trail after experiencing cardiac issues

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — Officials with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office rescued a 50-year-old hiker Saturday after he began experiencing cardiac issues while hiking Sunrise Mine Trail near Headlee Pass.

Search and rescue officials responded around 4 p.m. to reports of a hiker experiencing severe chest discomfort and weakness. He was climbing down Sunrise Mine Trail when the issues began. Two of his friends hiked down the trail to get help while the other two stayed with the man and sent a distress signal.

SnoHawk10 arrived around 5 p.m. and saw campfire smoke indicating the man's location. A medic evaluated the man and he was flown out of the area to Providence Regional Medical Center.
