Shilshole Bay, Wash. — Members of the Coast Guard and the Washington Department of Ecology are working to contain fuel leaking out of a 34-foot fishing boat that sank in Ballard's Shilshole Bay Saturday morning.
The coast guard is still looking into what caused the boat to sink, but officials told KIRO 7's Deedee Sun that a fisherman who was returning to fisherman's terminal was able to get into a dingy when the boat began sinking.
A nearby good Samaritan in a yacht picked up the boat owner and towed him to safety.

Officials with the Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Police Department, and the Washington Department of Ecology says now, their biggest priority is making sure the fuel onboard isn't a risk.
"We decided to take more aggressive action and get some divers out here and we were able to determine there was about 200 gallons of fuel on board so right now Global Dive that we're working with, they're working on pumping fuel off the vessel so it's no longer an environmental threat," Danielle Devoe of the Washington Department of Ecology told KIRO 7.
The plan for now is to get divers back into the water again soon to pull the boat out.
