Local people are mourning the loss of the man behind one of the longest-running gay and lesbian newspapers in the country.
George Bakan took over editorial duties at the Seattle Gay News back in the early 1980s, focusing coverage on the AIDS epidemic.
Bakan was also an advocate for issues like affordable housing, among other things.
He was found dead at his desk on June 7.
Bakan was 78 years old.
