People living in two apartments at 515 Adams St. SE in Olympia will not be able to return home after a fire caused significant damage.
Olympia firefighters said they were called to the apartment building and found a fire on the second floor.
The person living there was able to get out when the fire started, officials said.
Fire officials said the building had working smoke detectors but no fire sprinklers. Firefighters said they were able to put it out within minutes of arriving.
The other apartment was damaged by water, officials said.
The damage was estimated to be $40,000, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
