A Federal Way lawmaker called protest activities “unAmerican” and “unchristian” in a Facebook post after President Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day.
Senator Mark Miloscia (R) 's Facebook post hit social media Saturday morning before the historic women's march started in Seattle, but it followed a full day of protests.
Early Friday afternoon protesters from Capitol Hill and Central District neighborhoods marched downtown for an afternoon immigrant and refugee rights rally. Carrying signs that said "Fight Racism & Sexism" and "Resist Trump," people from the earlier rallies met at Westlake Park downtown late Friday afternoon. From Westlake Park, protesters marched through downtown and back to Capitol Hill. Some protesters from Westlake proceeded to the U-District, where the demonstration turned violent.
A man was shot Friday night on the University of Washington campus during a protest for a controversial speaker, and the suspected shooter turned himself in claiming self defense, police said.
On Saturday, nearly 200,000 people people walked in the Seattle streets for Womxn's March in Seattle.
Several in the comment section of Miloscia’s post disagreed with his stance on the protests. President Trump posted to his Twitter about the events nationwide, calling peaceful protests the hallmark of our democracy.
Peaceful protests are a hallmark of our democracy. Even if I don't always agree, I recognize the rights of people to express their views.

Watched protests yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election! Why didn't these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly.
