911 service restored to Western Washington customers after outage

There were reports Friday of a 911 outage affecting some Comcast customers in Western Washington and Spokane. Officials with Comcast said the outage was a multi-state issue affecting Washington and Oregon, and potentially other states as well.

The outage impacted customers who use landline phones connected to the internet. In addition to affecting 911 calls, the issue affected inbound calls.

By around 6:30 p.m. Friday night, the issue had been resolved, Comcast officials said.

People were advised to use cell phones. Officials asked members of the public to not call 911 to check and see if it's working. It could tie up the lines for people experiencing emergencies.
