Driver killed in collision in Mill Creek

MILL CREEK, Wash. — A collision in Mill Creek claimed the life of a driver on Friday evening.

The collision happened just before 5 p.m. in the 13800 block of 35th Avenue Southeast.

Mill Creek police said a Toyota pickup truck was headed south on 35th Ave. SE when the driver crossed into the northbound lanes and clipped the side of a Hyundai Sonata.

The truck went off the road and into trees, forcing firefighters to use the Jaws of Life to get the driver out.

Police said the driver was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the car and her child were not hurt.

The road was closed while officers investigated.
