Dozens of Seattle businesses damaged during riots

SEATTLE — Fifty businesses were damaged Saturday after rioters turned what was a peaceful protest into a night of destruction in Seattle.

The Downtown Seattle Association told KIRO 7 that 29 core downtown businesses and 21 more in the Chinatown-International District neighborhood were damaged.

The total is separate from any businesses that were looted.

DSA said it was still compiling those numbers.

Several volunteers took it upon themselves to be at downtown Sunday morning to help with the cleanup.
