Seattle police officers say a disturbed man made a dangerous outdoor climb between hotel rooms as high as the 18th floor.
Seattle police officers said guests at the downtown Warwick Hotel on 401 Lenora Street began calling security shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday when they saw the man climbing outdoor railings between rooms.
At one point, the man worked his way down to nearly street level, but ignored officers’ orders to come down and went back up to the 15th floor.
The man, who Seattle police described as being “in crisis,” eventually entered an open room, where he was met by officers.
Officers said the barefoot, shirtless man told them he was trying to get to the hotel’s roof to decontaminate the water that was flowing into rooms and poisoning the occupants.
Police said the man was wanted by U.S. Marshals in connection with sex offenses.
He was expected to be booked into the King County Jail pending a mental evaluation.
