Crash victim says police let driver with suspended license, no insurance go free

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — A man was hit by a driver with a suspended license and no insurance but police let the driver go.

It happened to a driver in Airway Heights, near Spokane.

Charley Oles was at Northern Quest Casino when he got hit by the uninsured driver, but police say because it happened in the Casino parking lot, no laws were broken.

“Police officer said, 'We're done,' and let him go. And I go, 'You're not going to give him a ticket, you're not going to confiscate his car, and you're not going to take him to jail for having a bad license?'” said Oles.

Police told him they can't enforce traffic laws on private property.

The officers in this case did file a police report, which will help Oles file a police report.
