CLARK COUNTY, Wash. — A deputy with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a multi-vehicle crash while responding to reports of a stabbing on Monday.

Officials said they received reports of the stabbing in the 2800 block of NE 170th Ave. around 4:40 p.m.

"The 'victim' reported to dispatchers that an unknown male subject, wearing a mask and gloves, had broken into her house and stabbed her. The suspect then reportedly ran from the location," an official with the Sheriff's Office wrote in a news release.

While in route to the 2800 block of NE 170th Ave., officials said one deputy was involved in a crash in the intersection of NE 162nd Ave. and NE Fourth Plain Blvd.

The deputy had head, neck and back pain and was transported to an area hospital. Officials said another driver was taken by family members to an area hospital with minor injuries.

“The original stabbing call was determined to be unfounded and made up by someone having a mental health crisis,” officials said.

Deputies did not release the names of those involved in the crash.

The crash is now being investigated by the Vancouver Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
