Centralia thrift shop that raises money for nurses forced to close after SUV crashes through wall

CENTRALIA, Wash. — A Centralia thrift shop that raises money for nurses to care for critically ill people was forced to close after an SUV crashed through a wall.

The crash destroyed the front end of the store and the shop now has structural damage, said Visiting Nurses on Facebook. They don’t know when it can re-open.

Visiting Nurses has two locations in Lewis County. The store is run by volunteers and they raise funds for home health and hospice care. The money they raise helps cover the costs of equipment, programs, and vital care for patients scattered over eight counties.

They always encourage shoppers to round up at the register to help buy equipment they give out for free at their Medical Equipment Bank.

This damage is clearly a big setback because Visiting Nurses also said their foundation office is closed until further notice.

According to the Visiting Nurses Foundation, everyone involved walked away from the crash with only minor injuries.
