One dead, 1 injured in Burien shooting

BURIEN, Wash. — The King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened in Burien overnight.

It happened in the15300 block of Fourth Avenue Southwest shortly before 1 a.m.

A deputy on routine patrol found a 27-year-old man on the sidewalk, dead from gunshot wounds.

A second victim, a 30-year-old man, arrived at Highline Medical Center with gunshot wounds and was transferred to Harborview in serious condition.

Before the second victim was taken to Harborview, officers interviewed the man who said an altercation happened among at least five people, which escalated and several people pulled out guns and began firing at each other.

King County major crimes detectives are trying to find three people who they say left the area before officers arrived and were with the man who died before the shooting happened.  Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shooting.

Investigators say the shooting is not believed to be gang-related.
