KING COUNTY, Wash. — A Newport High School teacher was arrested Thursday on multiple counts of alleged child molestation, rape of a child, and possessing child porn, according to King County Superior Court documents.
According to reports from the Department of Homeland Security, the teacher had been raping the victim, documenting it and sending it to people online. The victim was not a high school student.
In a letter from the Bellevue School District sent to its learning community, it said in part:
“At this point, we have little information regarding the allegations and understand that investigative and legal processes outside of the district’s control are ongoing. The charges at this point are only allegations.”
The teacher is currently in the King County Jail. Prosecutors asked that his bail be set at $1 million.
