More than 5,000 people in Woodinville and Redmond are without power Monday night after lightning hit Western Washington.
Puget Sound Energy said a large thunder and lightning storm hit the area shortly before the outage. However, the utility company said the exact cause of the outage is still under investigation.
Power may not come back on until 2:30 a.m., Puget Sound Energy said.
People as far south as Tacoma and as far north as Monroe said they saw lightning. KIRO 7's Chief Meteorologist Sam Argier said at one point there were 66 lightning strikes within a half-hour timeframe.
