CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — Chelan County officials said a fire burning in Hay Canyon, two miles north of downtown Cashmere, has grown to about 200 acres in size.
The fire started late Wednesday afternoon and the fire was first reported as 2 acres in size, which grew to 10 acres.
An eyewitness told KIRO 7 they could see the fire just north of their home, north of the Wenatchee River.
A Level 3 evacuation was issued for the single residence in the upper Hay Canyon.
County officials said a Level 2 notification was in place from the end of the pavement up the canyon and areas below are in Level 1.
Two firefighters had minor injuries after they were hit by rolling rocks on Wednesday.
No structures have been burned.
Three 20-person crews, two fire engines and six helicopters are working to help contain the fire. Crews hope to have a containment line around the fire by midday.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
