The crash happened east of Highway 18 near the city of Snoqualmie at about 5:45 a.m. Friday.  The two right lanes are blocked.

Washington State Patrol said emergency dispatchers first received a report of a disabled vehicle in the right lane, then about three minutes later, they were called about a crash.

Troopers said a Subaru Legacy was either fully stopped or slowly rolling when it was hit by the bus whose driver was unable to avoid the car when she suddenly saw its brake lights in the darkness.

Eastside Fire & Rescue at first said the bus involved in the crash was a King County Metro bus, but troopers later said that was incorrect and that the bus was a new transit vehicle that was being delivered to Vancouver, B.C., from Minnesota.

The driver of the Subaru was killed and his passenger, a woman, was taken to Overlake Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were only two people in the car.

The driver of the bus was the only person on board, and she was not hurt.

The Washington State Patrol and Department of Transportation will be at the scene for several hours investigating.
