Kent students can use app to pay for school lunches

KENT, Wash. — Kent students can now use a smartphone app to pay for school lunches.

Parents can put money into their child's cafeteria account with the Kent School District app.

Contact information for teachers, the school's calendar and lunch menu are features of the app.

It's now available for iPhones and Android phones.

A recent survey shows 86 percent of Kent students have access to a smart phone at home.

The Pew Research Center recently reported that low-income adults rely on smart phones for Internet access.
