SEATTLE — Weekend closures of two major Seattle highways could make it harder for drivers to get around in King County.
- Friday, Oct. 17 - Monday, Oct. 20 - Crews will close both directions of SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard Northeast and I-405 from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Crews are doing striping work on the eastern approach and demolishing "ramps to nowhere" in the Montlake area.
- Friday, Oct. 17 - Monday, Oct. 20 - Crews will close both directions of SR 99/Aurora Ave. N. between the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel and Valley Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure will give crews the space they need to move underground utility lines.
- Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19 - Crews will close both directions of the SR 99 viaduct between South Spokane Street and the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for the semi-annual bridge inspection.
- 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 18: The SR 99 closure will be extended north to North 39th Street in both directions for the 2014 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
- Saturday, October 18: A Phish concert at KeyArena and the opening of the Seattle Opera at McCaw Hall will bring crowds to the Seattle Center Saturday night.
