Gas leak causes road closure in Sammamish

SAMMAMISH, Wash. — A natural gas leak caused a road closure in Sammamish.

A private contractor working on new home construction inadvertently punctured the gas main near Northeast 49th Place Tuesday morning.

East Lake Sammamish Parkway north of Inglewood Hill Road was closed for several hours.

Puget Sound Energy crews worked to fix the 6-inch gas pipe near East Lake Sammamish Parkway just south of the city's border with Redmond.

The pipe was capped at 10:40 a.m.  Puget Sound Energy will work the rest of the day on a permanent patch.

East Lake Sammamish Parkway  Northeast  was open to alternating traffic by 11:30 a.m.
