CHICAGO — The Federal Aviation Administration says a Boeing 737-900 from Seattle to Chicago slid off the runway at O'Hare International Airport Wednesday morning.
United Airlines spokesman Charles Hobart says there were no injuries. He says the aircraft landed safely but then taxied just beyond the runway's turnoff point.
The FAA says the slide-off happened at 7:55 a.m. Central time Wednesday with United Flight 1977. The agency says the aircraft damaged airfield lights.
United didn't immediately say how many people were on board the plane.
Passenger James Boer said on his Twitter account that icy conditions at first made it difficult to move the plane. The plane was towed to a gate and passengers deplaned normally.
The FAA says it's investigating.
Snow was falling in the Chicago area Wednesday morning. United said it hasn't determined if weather was a factor in the incident.
