Pitcher Felix Hernandez signed a new contract with the Seattle Mariners Wednesday afternoon.
SEATTLE — Officials with the Mariners said Executive President and General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced that the team and Hernandez have reached an agreement on a new contract.
On Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the team and Hernandez agreed to a seven-year, $175 million contract, which would be finalized before spring training.
The deal makes Hernandez the highest-paid pitcher in Major League Baseball history.
