The Seattle community is coming to the support of its north Seattle neighborhood Greenwood after an explosion destroyed businesses and injured nine firefighters.
But a groups of elementary students showed thanks to firefighters, police and first responders in a big way Tuesday morning.
Dozens of children gathered on the Greenwood Elementary School playground to make a large heart across the yard. KIRO 7 Chopper caught it on video. Watch here or in video above.
Seattle firefighters were called shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday to a gas leak at a building in the 200 block of North 85th Street near Greenwood Avenue North.

Forty minutes after firefighters responded, an explosion reduced the building to rubble.
It has not been confirmed what businesses were destroyed, but people who live in the area said they were Mr. Gyros, Nepute Coffee and Quick Stop grocery.
