'Wigged out' Home Depot worker chases manager with knife, yanks time-clock from wall

SEATTLE — A knife-wielding Home Depot employee who "wigged out" over a disciplinary action chased a manager into a broom closet, ripped an employee time clock off the wall and threw it at another manager, a worker at the North Seattle warehouse chain store told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The worker spoke to KIRO 7 Eyewitness News on the condition of anonymity.

The worker told anchor Chris Egert that the suspect, identified by the King County Prosecutor's Office as Brian Koltes, 44, was called into the manager’s office on Tuesday morning for a minor disciplinary action.

The worker said the suspect "wigged out" just after 11 a.m., went to his locker and pulled out a knife.  He then chased an assistant manager, who hid in a janitor’s broom closet, then pulled the time clock off the break room wall and threw it at another manager.

The worker said employees don't understand why the suspect "went postal" because he didn't appear to be in much trouble.

Home Depot declined numerous attempts for comment by KIRO 7 reporters and referred inquiries to Seattle Police.

Police offered no new details beyond what they've reported on the SPD blotter.

Koltes was booked into jail on suspicion of assault, threats to kill and property damage.  He is scheduled for a bail hearing Wednesday afternoon.
